Downtown Cos Cob will be a lot sweeter with the much-anticipated grand opening of Chocoylatte Gourmet on Monday, July 8. The desserts & coffee shoppe, located at 121 E. Putnam Avenue will open its doors to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony beginning at 11am.

Chocoylatte Gourmet will offer an array of handmade freshly baked desserts, cookies, pastries and assorted fine chocolates made with the finest ingredients available in the market. Every treat will be prepared from scratch, every day and handcrafted on-site. For those with dietary sensitivities, the desserts & coffee shoppe will also offer gluten-free and lactose-free goodies, and promises to maintain the same high-quality ingredients baked with thoughtfulness and care. Guests will also enjoy recipes containing less sugar, no trans fats, non-GMO ingredients, no preservatives, no chemicals, no artificial preservatives, no artificial sweeteners, and no artificial flavors.

The desserts & coffee shoppe is the creation of food enthusiast and Greenwich resident, Kelly Dantas. Kelly has spent years traveling the world taste testing and sampling chocolate from 180 different suppliers. She finally settled on what she believes is the “purest and finest chocolate anywhere.” Along the way, Kelly was introduced to native spices to create fusions of different flavor combinations for her exclusive recipes.

“Chocoylatte Gourmet has been a labor of love for many years and I’m excited to finally share my sweet creations with the rest of the community”, said Kelly Dantas, owner. “Since work began on the shoppe, I have been overwhelmed by the support of so many people. I can’t wait for guest to experience our welcoming atmosphere and our delicious desserts.”

Chocoylatte Gourmet, which now occupies a stunning corner lot in Cos Cob, CT, has been completely renovated to replicate a European-looking café. The entire project, from the exterior and interior designs, was overseen and conceived by Kelly. The elegant shoppe was designed to capture the feel of a transitional French parlour, with a timeless teacup chandelier, plush bench seating and small café-style tables. Kelly promises there will be something for everyone, as the shoppe will serve both traditional coffee, flavored coffee creations, teas, hot chocolate, fresh juices, along with desserts and savory pastries.

Kelly also personally designed the beautiful decorative jewel-inspired cake packages and gift boxes for carry-outs. The one-of-a-kind boxes are all part of the delectable desserts and cake experience - from the design of the yummy goodies to how a guest will carry it home. Said Kelly, “per Steve Jobs words ‘Packaging can be theater, it can create a story’, we are here to create our story.”

Chocoylatte Gourmet will also be instituting green initiatives and incorporating sustainability practices by adopting the use of paper straws, paper gift bags and paper gift boxes. According to Kelly, she will continue to work and identify other green and recycling solutions to reduce the negative impact on the environment.

Said Kelly, “Chocoylatte Gourmet will be dedicated to finding new ways to surprise, delight and inspire our guests to experience desserts in the purest form. We will be committed to offering a dessert experience that will delight all the senses and help customers enjoy the ‘sweet life’ the way it was meant to be.”
