Hannah Goodman September 03, 2024 Last month, Greenwich welcomed to the area Constantino’s Pasta Bowls, a family-owned and operated fast-casual restaurant with a unique take on Italian cuisine. Robyn Bordes and her husband, Michael, are also the owners of the beloved Constantino’s Pizza and Ice Cream on Putnam Ave and Love You a Latte (located right next to Constantino’s Pasta Bowls). Robyn Bordes has worked in the food industry since she was 13 years old, starting as a waitress and eventually working her way up to restaurant business owner. She purchased the popular Villaggio’s Italiano Restaurant in Hartsdale and owned it for several years until she decided to sell it in 2020. In 2022, Bordes and her husband brought their expertise to Greenwich and opened Constantino’s Pizza and Ice Cream, which had previously been the location of Stateline Deli. Now, just two years later, the couple decided to expand their empire by bringing a new style of Italian food to the Greenwich community. Experiencing different types of Italian cuisine has always been a passion for the Bordes couple, especially throughout their travels. They were on a trip to Greece and were craving Italian, which is when they stumbled upon Pasta Boss, a noodle bar that had a simple yet refined take on pasta. Robyn became incredibly inspired by the quality of their ingredients and the feeling of fresh, homestyle cooking – like you could be anywhere in the world, yet still feel like you are eating at your own kitchen table with family, friends, and a yummy bowl of pasta. That warm feeling is exactly the sentiment that Robyn and Michael want to share with their community through Constantino’s Pasta Bowls. Everything they serve is homemade, from the different types of pastas (rigatoni, spaghetti, penne, pappardelle + more) to the sauces (tomato basil, pesto, vodka, bolognese + more) to even the bread, salads, and desserts. A few must-trys include “The Constantino’s Famous Spicy Rigatoni” (made with Calabrian chilis), the arancini balls, and their filet mignon – yes I said it, filet mignon! All of their pastas can be served as is or in their house-made bread bowls, which adds extra comfort to the already wonderful experience that is this place. Constantino's also serves gluten free pasta and they will soon be offering plant-based, vegan options to ensure that no one is left out! Robyn and Michael Bordes have put so much love into Constantino’s and its menu. As Robyn so eloquently stated, “We wanted a place that families could go to, a place where they could enjoy really great food, while keeping it affordable.” The words “La Famiglia e Tutto” are adorned on the wall behind the counter, and that is the sentiment you feel when you walk through the door of Constantino’s Pasta Bowls – and once you try their food, you’re hooked. Constantino’s Pasta Bowls is located at 160 Hamilton Ave in Greenwich, CT. They are open Monday - Saturday, 11am - 9pm.
