Jessica Ryan

Quick Facts: Memoirist, writer, editorial and creative director of Lifestyle blogs, and President of Effervescence, a boutique social media strategies, marketing & public relations firm by day. I am wine, Champagne and Gimlet Drinker by night! I love to share the things that inspire me with the hopes of inspiring others. I live in Easton with my three kids. My glass is never half empty... Always half full!

My current food cravings are: I’m always craving dark chocolate and wine. Always. Except for when I crave Champagne. Or really good potato chips!

The only fast food I will eat is: Pizza. I love all kids and the more toppings the better. But it has to be good pizza.

If I could be any Iron Chef, I would be: Bobby Flay but I would want to eat all my dishes and not share them with the judges.

My favorite restaurant in Fairfield County is: I have no favorite. The last meal I ate out was at Lianna’s Trattoria in Fairfield - a little gem off the beaten path. It’s fantastic. Gosh this is making me hungry!

My favorite restaurant in the Tri-State area is: I don’t have one. Depends on my mood at the moment.

Restaurant dish I wish I could make at home: I don’t really wish to make any particular restaurant dish at home. It’s why I go out. If there’s something I really enjoy I’ll order it out.

My go-to dinner party entrée is: I really don’t like to serve the same thing twice. I like change and variety. I bore easily. I also think my menu should reflect my guests. My guests’ palates are not all alike.

When I’m not eating, I’m…. thinking about food. Or drink. Or drinking!

Prepared food I have let people think was home-made… I can’t… I’m a terrible liar. If I serve something that I don’t make (usually an appetizer) I always reveal my source. I’d get so caught if I lied!

I’d rather pick (pumpkins, apples, strawberries): Bananas. I said that to be silly! Apples and pumpkins. I love to pick both. I love fall – everything about it… the colors, the food, the aromas, the temperatures…

The last book I enjoyed was: Ruth Reichl’s Comfort me with Apples. She’s a wonderful story teller. I have read most of her books.

My favorite movie of all time is: Sabrina (the original one staring Audrey Hepburn)

My favorite food related movie of all time is: The first movie that comes to mind is Julie & Julia because I think Meryl Streep is genius but then I remembered Like Water for Chocolate… Wow… the book was amazing too.
